The TBCPOA meets monthly on the fourth Thursday of each month at Tampa City Center, 2555 E. Hanna Avenue, Tampa, FL 33610.. Dinner starts at 18:00 with the meeting immediately following, usually just before 19:00. The only planned exception is the December meeting, which is our annual Christmas Party.
Memorial Day 2023, Seabees were invited to lay a wreath during the ceremony at the American Legion Post 5 in Tampa. This is the site of the only privately owner National Cemetery in the United States. Pictured on the left is National Seabee Veterans of America VCDR Dwight Hamborsky, Then Chief Bill Monfort and SVA Island X-11 CDR Ernie Nelson. Bill is a remarkable 106 years old. A Kamikaze attack survivor. He is still active and living in Clearwater.
Each year, the Tampa Bay Chief Petty Officer's Association rewards a local deserving young student. This Scholarship is a $1,000 scholarship payable at $1,000 in one lump sum. or in two $500 increments over a two-year period.
Any college or graduated/graduating high school student who is a TBCPOA member in good standing (MIGS) or a legal relative of a TBCPOA MIGS and who is currently or will be enrolling in an accredited college, junior college or university for the year beginning in September. The enrollment may be in a curriculum of any number of years but the scholarship will not exceed two years.
